GRAVEYARD MIRROR
Great Queen Cleopatra
Coursing in her gilded barge
Born a gifted actor
Her living soul was writ large
And beneath her swirled the waters
And the aching currents ran
They eased her on against the dawn
As she waited for her man
In panoramic darkness
With her oarsmen beneath the moon
She passed this way yesterday
But she won't be back too soon
Graveyard mirror
Graveyard mind
I feel you here so near I fear
I’ve been left behind
Dream-ridden Noah
His eyes opened wide
Rode the waves for forty days
Till his conscience was satisfied
The great navigator
Compass in his hand
Walked the deck
Till he spied the wreck
Of his savage land
And blind father Noah
Smashed what he could not steal
A burnt-out case
Destroyed by grace
In a world that wouldn’t yield
To the graveyard mirror
Graveyard mind
I feel you here so near I fear
I've been left behind
In the naked light
Frail men launch fusillades
As armies overtake them
And breach the barricades
And the shattered sailors gather
By the tangle shoals
Taking flight forever
Each one a drifting soul
They're scattered sure
Who knows where for
Beyond the mirrored sea
Disappearing at last again
Reclaimed by mystery
And the graveyard mirror
Graveyard mind
I feel you here so near I fear
I've been left behind
