Friends,
Works And Days comes out next week… at last! I’m excited about the music, and looking forward to the album release show at Johnny D’s on April 13.
Many amazing friends helped get the album off the ground: bassist Zack Hickman, drummer John Sands on drums, producer Chris Rival, art guru Steve Jurgensmeyer, web guy Josiah Altschuler and 177 Kickstarter contributors who – without exaggeration – made it all possible. Thank you all.
Hey Mr Starlight is a rock and roll song I’ve been playing live for some time now. It’s one of the few songs on Works And Days with overdubs: I’m playing guitar and bass here. Bass was the first instrument I played in a band, and cutting this track made me want to play a lot more of it.
“When The Fire’s Out” is one of two acoustic songs on Works And Days. It’s about recognition and renewal, and owes something to ’60s Brit-folk, which has inspired me for as long as I’ve played guitar. Hope you enjoy it!
Nice profile on the new album. Thank you Boston Globe!
I’m sorry to say that, due to beastly weather, our February 9 show at Johnny D’s in Somerville MA has been cancelled. Contact the club for refunds. The good news is that we’ve rescheduled for Saturday, April 13, and tix for the cancelled show will be honored then… hope to see you in the spring!
Recording proceeds apace! I’ll be back in the studio next month, joined by Chris Rival (engineer), Zack Hickman (bass), John Sands (drums) and Tom West (piano, organ). I’m happy with what we’ve got so far, and hope the week I’ve booked will be enough to finish tracking and begin mixing. I’m excited to see where it all leads.
Again, many thanks to all who chipped in to my Kickstarter campaign to make this record happen. It’s a thrill to be working on a new record, and I owe it all to you.
